Whether it’s fresh or dried, here’s a method that works on most surfaces:
1. Blot Immediately (if fresh)
Use paper towels or a clean cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible.
Do NOT rub, as that can push the urine deeper into the fabric or padding.
2. Use a Vinegar-Water Solution
Mix:
- 1 cup of white vinegar
- 1 cup of warm water
Spray it onto the affected area and let it sit for 10–15 minutes. Vinegar neutralizes the ammonia in urine.
Blot again with a dry towel.
3. Apply Baking Soda
Generously sprinkle baking soda over the area.
Let it sit for at least 6–8 hours (or overnight) to absorb lingering odors.
Vacuum the baking soda thoroughly.
4. Optional: Enzyme Cleaner
If the smell remains, use an enzyme-based cleaner made specifically for pet or human urine. These break down the proteins in urine and work better than most household sprays.
