This will only take you a few minutes, you can do this before dinner gets ready every day. The dirt attaches itself to the dry mop until you are done and ready to shake out the dirt outside.

Use foot mats

Placing a foot mat outside your entrance door and another foot mat inside will help to reduce the quantity of dirt been tracked unto your wood floor in the house. Make it a practice to clean your shoes on the foot mat before entering the house, you can encourage your children to do the same and off their shoes at the entryway before coming in.

Clean all stain, spills and remove food debris immediately.

You don’t have to wait until your routine cleaning day before you clean up stains. Make sure every food or pet stains are removed immediately they are noticed. This will take you less than 10 minutes. Sweep dust and food debris with a vacuum cleaner and use appropriate wood stain removal to remove stains immediately.

Don’t allow your children to play with watercolor on the wood floor.

Color can easily and quickly soak into the hardwood layers and cleaning them might be difficult. Therefore, you should encourage your kids to make their painting assignment on the work table in their room or on the surface where it can be clean easily.

Use hardwood floor polish once in a week.

To make your wood floor keep shining throughout the week, you should try to use the wood polish at least once a week. The polish can stay fresh and new until another week. Here is how to make one in your home.

Make a mixture of 2 cups of warm water, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of lemongrass oil for fragrance. Make sure to shake the mixture very well before use.

Dip a clean microfiber cloth into the mixture or attach the microfiber cloth to a mop head. Then use it to clean your wood floor in a circular motion until all every area of the floor is cleaned. The water and vinegar clean the floor, the lemon oil give fragrance while the olive oil keeps the floor shining.
